Greeka Kouzina: Greek Dinner Birthday Celebration

One of the benefits of having a big close-knit family means having lot and lots of celebratory meals together.  This time, my dear aunt's birthday party invitation has brought me to discover Greeka Kouzina in SM Aura.



The place looks popular since it's a weekday night and they had a lot long wait list.  Some potential customers even gave up waiting.  


Looking thorugh the glass outside,it appeared to be spacious.   But upon stepping in, I realized that our group was able to occupy the entire middle section.

P.S. Before we go on with the food, I'd just want to share that my aunt's shop Ingarden Philippines. It isthe Asian distribution branch for the leading décor enterprise in Europe.  It's décor can now be seen in leading malls, hotels and condos.  Check it out! =)

Food

Meze (Appetizer)

Melitzanosalata (130 php)

The Melitzanosalata is eggplant grilled over charcoalwith tomatoes, feta cheese, lime and olive oil.  I liked the dip but didn't like their flat bread.

Hummus (130 php)

The Hummus is their version of the classic greek chickpea dip flavored with roasted garlic and tahini.  It's okay but definitely not among the top hummus I've tried.

Fig Arugula Salad (420 php)

The Fig Arugula Salad is a delicious salad with sweet figs, walnuts and sundried tomatoes and arugula mixed greens.

Meats

Lamb Shoulder (500 php)

The Lamb Shoulder is one of their best sellers.  It is a serving of two pieces of lamb shoulder seasoned in spices and served with potatoes and dips.  It was tender and savory.  We loved it!

Greeka Baby Back Ribs (550 php)

I don't know how the Greeka Baby Back Ribs belongeed to Greek cuisine but this 3/4 slab barbecue is so good that no one cares if it's totally not out of place.

Sidings (free from our mains)

Moussaka (180 php)

The Moussaka is their version of the classic grilled eggplant and ground beef with tomato sauce and cheesy bechamel dish.  I was not impressed.  I've tried better moussaka before.
 

Watercress Pasta (180 php)

The Watercress Pasta is a creamy pasta topped with watercrest, tomatoes and parmesan cheese.  This is a light tasting pasta which complements the other dishes well.

Desserts

Greeka Yogurt (170 php)

Greek Yogurt and pistachios are my two favorites so I enjoyed this!  The honey is just a little to much.

Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Greeka Kouzina has gained a lot of loyal customers and has expanded to three branches.  My dining experience was just okay.  I don't get the long lines and the raves I heard for it.  Am I missing something?  What should I have ordered?
