The Historic Camalig Restaurant is called historic for being based in a 100-year old wood and rubble building in Angeles City, Pampanga.
It also has a bar.
We chose to dine at the second floor which looked liked an old Italian restaurant with red checkered linen over white linen covered tables. It has a stage area which hinted that it has live bands during the night. It also had old frames hanged.
Food
Armnado's Pizza
The Armando's Best is overloaded with peperoni, ground beef, green pepper, button mushrooms and bacon. I love how generous they are with their quality toppings. However, the pizza dough was not to my liking. It was thick but not soft and chewy.
The Marco's 3-Way is a unique variation with sun-dried tomatoes, kesong puti in tuyu, tinapa and adobo flavor.
The best variant for me was the Doy's Kapampangan which had longganisa, salted egg, onion and pickle relish.
Ulam & Pulutan
The Sizzling Sisig is pork cheeks, liver and interstine with chopped onions served in a sizzling plate.
The Deep-Fried Chicken Wings is soy marinated. It was nothing special for me.
Drinks
Fresh Fruit Shakes
The Kamias has a nice tart tone to it. You could really feel the strong sharp flavor in every sip.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
The Historic Camalig Restaurant offers a nice rustic and nostalgic local ambiance and affordable dishes. Live bands perform during the nights which you can enjoy with your company as you eat and drink.
Tip: It grants special discounts for fellow Lasallian alumnis so bring your card when visiting.
